LeuzemiaLeuzemia Country: PeruLabel: Lengua Armada Cat#: LA-54Format: Vinyl, LP Year: 1985/2008Language: Spanish Share on: Facebook Twitter Pinterest Submitted by Deuce With a cover that references The Ramones and a big sound that contains elements of the boys from Queens and The Clash too, Leuzemia was one of the most popular punk bands in Peru during the ’80s. Considered by many to be the most talented and poppy of the Peru Underground Rock Movement (aka “Rock Subterraneo”), Leuzemia sang about the volatile political climate at the time in Lima and recently democratized Peru, as well as having tunes with names like “Diarrea”. This was the first LP released by a one of the members of Rock Subterraneo, and has been reissued for the first time in decades. It should also be noted that the band has been playing shows again in Peru in the last ten years and hopefully this will yield more material.
